Frequently Asked Questions

When should I see a neurologist?

See a neurologist for persistent headaches or migraines, seizures, numbness or tingling, balance problems, memory issues, tremors, or any unexplained neurological symptoms. Early evaluation can prevent complications and improve outcomes.

What happens during an EEG test?

EEG is a painless test where small electrodes are placed on your scalp to record brain electrical activity. It takes 30-60 minutes and helps diagnose epilepsy, sleep disorders, and other brain conditions. No preparation is usually needed.

Can migraines be cured?

While migraines cannot always be cured completely, they can be effectively managed. We use a combination of preventive medications, lifestyle modifications, trigger identification, and acute treatment strategies to significantly reduce frequency and severity.

What are the warning signs of a stroke?

Remember FAST: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call emergency. Also watch for sudden confusion, vision problems, severe headache, or trouble walking. Immediate medical attention within the first few hours is critical.

Is nerve conduction testing painful?

NCS involves mild electrical stimulation that may feel like small shocks — uncomfortable but tolerable and brief. EMG uses a thin needle to test muscle activity. Both tests are safe, take about 30-45 minutes, and provide crucial diagnostic information.

Can dementia be prevented or slowed?

While not all dementia is preventable, regular physical exercise, cognitive stimulation, social engagement, a healthy diet, managing blood pressure and diabetes, and quality sleep can significantly reduce risk and slow progression in early stages.
